J.P.

Yes the $200 is for your whole team.
Yes it is folkstyle.
Anywhere between 15 and 20 schools participate.

Remember no wrestler will be able to participate without a coach or team. You must be there with a team.

Only wrestlers who will be high school students in the 2008-09 school year may wrestle. I'm sure Palomar College would be very interested in 2008 graduates who still want to wrestle. Good Luck!

Valley Center has been in our Summer League every year that we've run it, and I'm sure that they will be again.

Weigh-Ins: ONCE (the first night a wrestler competes). Most of the weigh-ins take place on the first night of the league.

Flyers were mailed to your schools a few weeks ago, so look for them, and sign up early!

To Add Some Class...

Coach Davis' Panthers from Vista

AND

Coach Nellis' Longhorns from RBV are in...

hey, I've been reading the "how to make the section better" strand...how about joining a GREAT Summer League...the ONLY Summer League our section offers?

That, and Coach OB's Practice-Practice-Practice philosophy are good (and Cheap!) ways to get better.

Great first night...

-According to Coach Rogers: 137 Wrestlers weighed-in, and about 25 coaches were present.

-Wrestlers competed in at least three matches each (about 3 1/2 hours on 4 mats)

-same Round Robin Format next week. We'll have 5 mats, and start wrestling @ 4:30. We could probably get an extra round in, and still be done by about 8

-thanks to all the coaches for all of the help!

Only for those that did not weigh-in last week, or those that want to go down a weight from last week's weigh-in. If either applies to you, be at Escondido by 3:30 on Wednesday, 06-11.

Wrestling begins @4:30!

Another great evening, with some very tough wrestling. Everyone picked it up a bit, as I saw lots of kids who looked improved from last week...those Barons from BV look good Coach Ruz!

By Coaches Consensus, next week's format will remain a round-robin, like the first two weeks. Week 4 we will still end the League with a Double Elimination Individual Tournament. Medals for 1st thru 4th at each weight.

Remember Coaches, another 4:30 start time next week!

A decent turn-out last night (lots of participating schools had finals/graduation)...some kids wrestled up to 6 or 7 times, and the wrestling keeps getting more competitive.

WEEK 4 is the FINAL WEEK OF THE LEAGUE!!!

WEDNESDAY, 06-25-08, we will have a double elimination, individual tournament with medals for 1st through 4th @ each weight. All wrestlers will, however, get a minimum of 3 matches (1 exhibition for 0-2 kids.

COACHES: Please show up as early as possible with a DEFINATE ROSTER of wrestlers who will participate in the tournament. ALL WRESTLERS WILL PARTICIPATE AT PREVIOUSLY DETERMINED WEIGHTS, SO A ROSTER IS CRUCIAL.

WE WILL HAVE A COACHES MEETING FOR SEEDING/INFO PURPOSES IN THE WRESTLING ROOM @ 4:30

COACHES: PLEASE MAKE ARRANGEMENTS TO BE AT EHS BY 4PM THE LATEST (3PM EARLIEST!)TO TURN IN ROSTERS!!!
